Storytime With Meadow: Healing Perfection

I have to admit that my first love has always been science fiction. Star Trek, Quantum Leap, X-Files, Star Wars... Now, take that love and combine it with Twilight and you have a very happy Meadow. Healing Perfection makes me an exceptionally happy Meadow.
Dr. Bella Swan is a leading researcher in genetic research. Specifically, she is trying to reverse the effects of gene therapy. She wants to "heal perfection." The best chance she'll have to do that is to work for the secretive Cullen Corp. The leader, Dr. Edward Cullen, is a brilliant but troubled man. Why is Dr. Swan so driven? Why is Dr. Cullen so haunted?
So far we're given some clues, but not enough to truly start piecing the puzzle together. Bella has a mysterious past in which she lost someone close to her. Edward has a past that he can't remember. On top of that, lurking in the background is an unknown threat.
One of my readers mentioned last week that they wished I'd review less well-known fics to give them recognition. I honestly believe that every fic I review deserves to be a huge hit, and usually I have to balance my excitement over new fics with older, usually complete or mostly complete fics so that we have something to do while we're waiting for the new guy's update.
Healing Perfection is one of the new guys, and I definitely think it deserves to blow up to "super story" status. I hope you all agree, too.

Storytime With Meadow: Mr. Horrible

Hello readers! I know that lately I've been on a bit of a supernatural kick, so I thought I'd throw in something different. Some of you have probably heard of the hilarious story Mr. Horrible by Algonquinrt. If you haven't, you've been missing out. In this all-human, complete story Bella (Baby Swan) is a foul-mouthed bohemian temp who meets a straight-laced executive-type Edward (Rich Kid.) The cast of characters is diverse and unique to the Twi-fandom and the cursing is creative to the point of needing a wiki. Seriously, I found myself spewing some of it while driving and had to laugh out loud at myself.
Bella is sweet, tough, and acerbic. Edward is awkward, smart, and sincere. When their worlds collide there are sparks, both positive and negative. Can they find a way to work through their differences? I'm sure you won't have too much trouble figuring it out since Algonquinrt is planning a sequel, but I guarantee you'll enjoy the ride. I adore this crazy world Algie has created for us. I want to be friends with Rich Kid and Baby Swan, I want to get to know Granny Platt, and most of all I want a set of silver with sporks. Laurent FTW! So, trust me, go check it out. You won't regret it.

Storytime With Meadow: Bella Swan: Zombie Killer

Okay, I have a teeny-tiny confession to make: I don't like scary movies. I can't stand the Horror genre, as a rule, and am proud of the fact that I've never seen any of the bazillion Saw movies. However, I am also a study in contradictions because I love cheeky romantic supernatural mysteries. Buffy, X Files, even Evil Dead (because Bruce is EPIC) and I'm THERE. So, despite my reluctance to touch the subject matter, I listened to some trusted Twitter sources and started reading Bella Swan: Zombie Killer. I'm in love. It's clever. It's action-packed. Bella is strong and resourceful. And you KNOW how I love resourceful Bella.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5491016/1/Bella_Swan_Zombie_Killer
The story is simple. The town of Forks, WA is under siege. By zombies. Still with me? Good. Because Bella, rather than lie down and become zombie chow, decides to take matters into her own hands. She has a shovel (which she names Rosalie) and she is bound and determined to find a way out of this mess. In the process she meets Edward, who is completely adorkable. He's handsome, he's smart, and he's rockin' the "shy genius" vibe. From the way that author Kristen Nicole describes his chunky glasses I just want to rip them off of his face and eat him up. But, you know, not in the creepy zombie way. So, if you have a sense of humor and a strong stomach, trust me on this one. Check out Bella Swan: Zombie Killer. It's just starting out and I need more people to chat about it with me! *winks*

Storytime With Meadow: The Submissive

Seriously, as a woman, I cannot imagine giving someone else COMPLETE control over my life and my body, which is essentially what a submissive does. But, watching Bella learn about herself and the man that Edward is makes me understand why she does. Despite her role as a sub, this Bella is strong and this Edward is difficult. They have to work at coming to an agreement that works for them both.
The supporting cast of characters are cannon in personality but differ in support roles. Rose is still kind of a bitch, but she's also Bella's best friend and her bitchiness is deserved. Edward is strongwilled and controlling but also gentle and cautious. If you're feeling adventurous, check this fic out. You won't be dissapointed. Especially since there's a sequel (The Dominant - The Submissive from Edward's POV) and a third installment titled "The Training." You may not embrace this lifestyle for yourself, but you'll enjoy watching Bella and Edward navigate it.

Own A Piece of Meadow

I have ONE thing none of the other authors have, though: Permission from the gals to include them as characters! So, what would you like to see me write? A continuation of "Surprising Alice"? A swingin' League Mansion Party? A Twilight/League Crackfic?

Storytime With Meadow: Living Backwards & a Special Message

Bella wasn't the most social of kids in high school. Arriving back there, three weeks prior to graduation, what will she do differently? What would you do differently if you were suddenly placed back in high school? Especially if that high school contained Edward Cullen?
Living Backwards is very funny, appropriately romantically angsty, and all-around incredibly fun to read. Thank GOD I didn't let my high-school PTSD keep me away. Don't let your HS experience do the same. Click the banner to read it! **winks** When you're done you can read her one-shot from the Support Stacie Author Action featuring Joan, Bella's flask. It's very funny (naturally.)
There is also a thread on Twilighted, but once again I'm not going to link it because I don't want to give anything away.

Storytime With Meadow: The Fallout

I have a confession to make: I'm much more of a sci-fi/fantasy reader than I am a romance reader. I read Twilight because it had vampires, whereas I think many people read it in spite of the vamps. So when I came across a fic that portrayed our favorite vampires surviving in a post-apocalyptic dystopia I was all “Hell YES!”
“The Fallout” by OCD_Indeed is not just a Mad Max rehash, however, so if sci-fi isn't normally your thing, don't worry. It's really a deeply thought out story driven by the characters that we know and love so much. It's set in an alternate universe starting out in New Moon. Ten years after Edward left Bella in the forest we find him and his family struggling to find their place in a drastically changed world. The unthinkable has happened: Nuclear war broke out. The United States is a mess. Pockets of survivors live in “districts” and there are rumors of mutant outlaws who steal away people and drink their blood. All in all, not a fun time. So we find our Angsty Edward at his best. I mean, if you thought New Moon Edward was bad, your heart will break into a million little pieces at this Edward. Because he couldn't save Bella from the bombs.
Now, OCD_Indeed doesn't hate us and she never comes right out and confirms that Bella is dead. Part of the beauty of this story is that the world is so well-realized that I'd accept Bella's fate either way. It's a story of life going on in the face of terrible tragedy. It's a story of family, of healing, and of hope as well as despair. There is a present danger in the form of Maria, who the Cullens suspect is trying to amass another vampire army. There's mystery, because, well, DID Bella bite it? So, go read! There is a thread on Twilighted.net for the story but I'm not linking it because it'll contain spoilers. Once you're caught up head over there and take a look for some fun theorizing.

Storytime With Meadow: Adult Twilight Fanfiction Story

Hello faithful readers! As you know I spend much of my time on twitter
Here is his reason behind writing a fanfic:
"I am a Twilight widower. My wife discovered these books and I haven't seen her since. There's no food in the house. I've eaten the last of the toothpaste. The clothes haven't been washed and have actually developed language skills and taken over the linen closet to begin some anarcho-syndicist commune. My socks barked at me. I'm wearing the paper yard-waste bags now.
I am afraid.
I want my wife back so I'm writing fan fiction with sexual content in the hopes that she'll find her way back home again. And because I'm horny... and dirty... and I smell bad. Pam cooking spray does not make a good deodorant, but my underarm hair has a nice glossy coat, like a primped show dog. Oh... and about the dog.
...he's my only friend...
Please come back to me, baby. I miss you. I need you. I know now I cannot live without you. My own mother won't let me get within 30-feet of her, even down wind."
So please, support him in his quest. Read his insightful (and hot!) fiction, titled "Adult Twilight Fanfiction Story." Kudos to you Mr. Wantmywifeback. I hope Mrs. Wantmywifeback finds your story and finds her way back to your bed. And kitchen. And laundry room. P.S. You might want to invest in a maid. And premade meals. Just a thought to get you through these dark times.

Storytime With Meadow: My Yes, My No

If you have been following my FF recommendations for awhile now you've probably noticed that New Moon-era fics are my favorite genre to read. I was always so impressed by how real Bella's heartbreak was in Stephenie Meyer's version but not so impressed with it's resolution. (See how I talk now? As if it wasn't the “real” version of events?) Edward comes back and suddenly there's no need for him to atone. And other than the trumped up “but maybe I love Jacob too??” issues, Bella slips right back into pre-abandonment frame of mind. Happy ending for all. Except, that's not reality. When trust is destroyed in a relationship it needs to be built back up. How does that work for them? What are they going through? THESE are the things I really want to know.
These concerns are shared by the amazing LolaShoes, who is the author of several of my favorite FF stories and is the writer of “My Yes, My No.” This is her summary:
On the plane back from Italy, Edward asks if they can try again. One Bella says yes; one Bella says no. Parallel stories in alternating chapters explore how these two reactions can influence the reunion and rebuilding of trust after Edward left. Canon/AU
There are so many things to love about this story. It's easy to imagine either of Bella's responses, and saying "yes" versus saying "no" doesn't change the basic facts. Edward is truly SORRY. Bella is truly still BROKEN. They both want to fix things, but don't quite know how. It's heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time to see their relationship rebuilt because it feels right. It feels truthful. This Bella and Edward do something canon Bella and Edward don't. They grow. Stephenie told us that Edward's return stitched up all of Bella's wounds. Lola is showing us how.
So, why are you still here? Click the picture above and go! Read! Now!

Storytime BY Meadow: Surprising Alice, a Twilight fanfic

For a while now you have been reading Meadow's fanfiction reviews. Well, ladies and gentle viewers, this is a special treat. For today, we are reviewing the fanfic that MEADOW WROTE. Oh yes. This is a one-shot fanfic that non-fanfic readers like myself can enjoy along with fanfic afficionados. The premise is that Jasper finds a way to surprise Alice with a gift that she won't see coming. Edward and Jacob tag along with him. And there are a couple of characters roughly based on a couple of League members. See if you can pick them out. Surprising Alice, a Twilight fanfic - FanFiction.Net
Loved it! I mean it! Meadow - you rock out loud. And, wowza sister - you didn't warn me that I'd have to have Mr. Rain on standby for that! Good thing he was...(Are your eyes bleeding yet?

Storytime with Meadow:“Well, This Sucks: Life According to Seth”

Okay boys and girls, I think I've been fairly forthcoming with the smut lately, haven't I? So you'll indulge me and let me recommend a non-smutty fic, right? (Just nod and agree with me, it'll save us all time. I can be as relentless as Alice until I get what I want, just ask the girls.)So, today I'm bringing you “Well, This Sucks: Life According to Seth.” I fell in love with this from the first chapter. It's a look at Seth Clearwater's “man-journal” and it's absolutely hysterical. It's basically everything I liked about the Jacob POV in Breaking Dawn and nothing that I hated. (Because, really, if Jacob's character didn't irritate me so much I'd have enjoyed that part a lot more. It was funny!) Seth is a funny, self-deprecating, loving teenage boy. Who just happens to turn into a werewolf. And is terrified of imprinting. And may have a little crush on Lauren Mallory.
Now, the cons: Krum Kake is a college student (I think we can all relate to that from experience or memory) and so she hasn't updated in ages. Fortunately while the story has a plot it's not angsty. So as much as I'd do a happy dance in my kitchen if she began updating daily, I'm really just happy to have enjoyed it up to this point. Trust me, it's a fun read. You won't be disappointed. (And keep an eye out for the mention of popsicles. Seriously, almost spit out my Dr. Pepper when I read it.)

Storytime with Meadow: Poughkeepsie

Sometimes you read a fic that is just so different you can't believe it's just a fanfic. Poughkeepsie by Mrs. TheKing is one of those fics.

Bella, newly engaged to **gag** Mike Newton, witnesses a homeless man being beaten. Refusing to just stand by, she helps him get away and quickly learns that Edward is much more than just some “crazy” homeless man. As you can imagine in any good BxE story, attraction and complications ensue.
This is far from JUST their story, though. All the major Twilight players have been reincarnated in incredibly complex and intriguing roles. Alice is a punk-pixie with a thing for all the wrong men until she meets Jasper, a priest-in-training. And Emmett... Well, Emmett is rough. Rosalie is rougher. And they are actually my favorite people in the whole story. So, please, go read, review, and love. You won't be sorry, although you'll probably be happy, angry, and sad at various points. Isn't that what good fiction is about?
Now, just a note: Several of my favorite fanfiction authors are auctioning off their services for the Support Stacie Author Auction, and Mrs.TheKing is one of them! She asked that I let you know that she has no limits on what she'll write. (Hear that Spank? I feel a Spank/Jasper fic coming on...)
Need proof? Here's one of her tweets about it:
http://bit.ly/13j0k9 <--- I will write whatever the f*** you want. Emmett washing your minivan? Done

Storytime with Meadow: Elemental

Hello Ladies! I'm so glad to be back and sharing fabulous fanfiction with everyone. I've recently been introduced to an amazing new fic called "Elemental" by TallulahBelle. If you follow me on Twitter you've probably seen me tweet about it.
If not, why aren't you following me on Twitter? Is it because I left? You forgave Edward when he came back, why not me? It's because I don't sparkle, isn't it? I knew it! Damnit...
Anyway, back to Elemental, here's what you need to know:
Bella is abruptly moved by her parents (Charlie and Renee) back to Forks, where she discovers that she has inherited special "powers." She is thrust into a world she doesn't understand but must learn quickly. What is the great danger that fueled her return? Why did TallulahBelle give Lauren special powers also instead of giving her leprosy? Or the clap? Why is Renee so unhappy? Why is this Edward such a standoffish dick? (He totally is, don't deny it.)
What I love about this is that this Bella is strong and special in her own way. None of this "Oh, woe is me, who likes brown eyes and brown hair??" crap. I also love that it's so supernatural. It reminds me of why I LOVE books like Twilight in the first place. And TallulahBelle does an excellent job at sucking you in right away. Trust me, once you start reading you'll be
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5241793/1/Elemental
Now, it was pointed out to me that the minute I "un-retire" we bring out a post about a sparkly penis substitute. Now, my interests involve MUCH more than smut, but I aim to please, so while you're waiting for Elemental to update you should ALSO check out "Never Think" by il_suo_cantante.

But be sure you have your significant other around when you do. (Or, at least, your own "Vamp.") *wink*
