I don't have the strength~

Isn't it about time that we address the restaurant scene? My, my, my, my, it makes my head want to explode. The lighting, his expressions, and that line; yes, no, to get to the other side! I couldn't take my eyes off of him for one second to even see piss ant. He gives me bobbybumps! C'mon girls, what say you?

I swear, I did not know what the square root of pi was before Edward told me. I also didn't know what sex on fire meant until I saw Rob Pattinson smoldering on the screen in that scene. I learned so much from this movie.

This scene is one of the best possible alterations in the book-to-movie translation. I mean, hearing Rob say "sex" over and over? *sigh*

Oh yeah, for me, it was when he said, "cat". That was so hot. Rawr. or should I say meow. *picture "meow" being said by buttcrack santa*. Like I said. Hot! No really, I did love the "cat" part because it made me laugh. LOVE guys that make me laugh. (cough, Mr. Ginger)

Um, let me just go off on a tangent here to say WTF was up with that ugly ass waitress? She's supposed to be "beautiful" in the book version and instead she's some tattooed goth chick with a 50's bouffant. Not that I have anything against tattoos per se. I just have something against UGLY tattoos.

I didn't mind that too much, but I kinda missed the intimacy of them being off in a booth alone like they were in the book. I'm willing to forgive it all, though, just for that one little word... "sex." Mmmm....

Totally agree with you Ginger! She was supposed to be Rosalie type hot. Blond and probably a low cut shirt... You know what I'm talking about.

And about the restaurant...It bothered me that in the book Bella supposedly has a bad hyper active reaction to caffeine....Yet when she drinks two cokes in the restaurant, nothing happens. Later in the book she is with Alice on the plane and gets a Coke (Kristin really like her coke....cain) and she is able to stay awake due to the caffeine.

Meadow, ya, the aloneness should have happened. In the book the restaurant was pretty much empty.

This was my second favorite (the baseball scene won) scene of the movie. The "yes, no, to get to the other side 1.77..." and the "sex, money, sex, money, CAT?!?" had me laughing like a dork. Not a good thing when your hearty laughs cause everyone in the theater to turn and stare, but I digress...

Another thing I love - You get to hear Rob talk & sing all at the same time. Sexiness from every angle...now how couldn't you curse yourself for forgetting an extra pair of panties after that?

I have to agree that the waitress through me off. She was flirting with him, but why WOULD he care? She wasn't all that attractive...definitely not (ugh I can't believe I'm saying this...) as attractive as piss-ant!

Ugh...now I have to go scrub my fingers with bleach and brillo pads for typing that...

The waitress sucked-- WTF moment for sure. I remember thinking the first time I saw the scene "Hey, where is the cozy booth, and where the heck did they come up with that waitress?" That was until Edward started talking then I didn't really care about any of that. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Leo's Mom said...

The waitress was Kristen's stunt women. They forgot to get anyone to play the waitress. Yes, I have read to much about this move! I think I need help.

sakixry said...

What? She was Kristen's stunt women? Why on earth didn't they call me to play the waitress? For sure I am prettier than this one but ... hmmm... we wouldn't see the restaurant scene... or at least you wouldn't be able to see Edward/Robert cause you would probably just see my back... hmmm...

Ok, thank God I hadn't read the book before the movie. Cause then I would ad so much more to the "cringe" scenes from yesterday.
No, I dont like that they have changed the scene so much in comparison to the book but from the moment HE speaks and you can also hear HIM sing in the background I wouldn't care less what he is talking about. As long as he continues speaking. *sigh*

Val said...

Ok, the waitress=suckage! They totally needed some hot chick playing the part. That is one part where you really get the Bella is what he wants.
@sakixry, so I know he was singing in the back ground, but never thought of it as hearing both him talking and singing, love it!!

can we just talk about the ugly waitress? i wish they made that more obvious like in the book... shortlived and the girl was too rockabilly goth for me. ANYWAY - LOVED this scene - notice how the lighting made him look less vampy and more human - SWOON

sakixry said...

@Valerie: Yes! Isn't it wonderful! Here him speak, sing and at the same time see him??? AAaaaaahhh!!! It can't get better! Ok, I can think HOW it could get better but I right now we are speaking about the restaurant scene! ;o))

OMG love love love this scene. My favorite 2 lines in the movie:

"I feel very....protective of you"

and

" i don't have the strength...to stay away from you...any more."

and Rob saying "sex" is just unbearable.

LeLe said...

That waitress was too Goth, I agree. When my husband watched the movie with me (finally), he said, "Is that Ben Harper playing in the background (referring to R.Pattz's music)?" I was like, "No! That's him!!!" He thought the "cat" part was funny.

I really, really, really liked this scene. I loved Rob in it and, yes don't hate me for saying this, I loved Kristen in it too.

From Rob, I loved EVERYTHING, Specially the "yes, no, to get to the other side, and the square root of pi" line. From Kristen I loved the look on her face when she realized the waitress was flirting.

Unknown said...

@ Johanna - I actually loved Kristen in this scene... most scenes, actually. GASP! It's true! :)

This is by far one of my favorite scenes! I have memorized every expression and line of his....um..for research purposes, of course! Ahem...anyway, my favorite part is when he looks like he is about to cry and she says, "What is it?" and he then tells her he doesn't have the strength...and we know the rest. It is so true to the book...well, Midnight Sun, where he knows he should stay away from her but he can't...you can FEEL his pain!...we should help ease his pain....
And yes, the waitress is the worst part of that scene..totally wrong! I also agree with the lighting----*swoon!!*

The waitress sucked, I agree. Her hair literally scared me. Oh, and I love the look Movie-Bella gives her when she waltzes away from their table. Classic Kristen bitchface.

But Rob ... he kills me in that scene. When he tells her "Don't go" and "I don't have the strength." Dies.

robin(me) said...

Here's the thing: when Edward/Rob says "i feel very protective of you, (Robin)" "i don't have the strength to stay away from you anymore, Robin" don't go,(Robin)

It's like what waitress? There was a waitress? wtf? Kristen's stunt double? What is she, my age?

oh sex.money.sex.money...cat! yes, giggle giggle.
and sexy rob singing in the background...eeegods! i have died and gone to heaven!

Melanie said...

I think Catherine Hardwicke has a thing for bouffants! I found Rob Uh I mean Edward mesmerizing in this scene. I do not dislike Kristen but when Rob's in the scene, I see nothing else. I forget about the girl. Can't help myself.

I love the upgraded picture quality you girls are using now - way better! ;)

Ok, once again ladies...you're saying, what I'm thinking! This is my absolute favorite scene in the movie. Sorry, but I didn't even notice there WAS a waitress...I could NOT take my eyes off of Edward. I actually just sit and replay THIS scene over and over and over, getting all warm and fuzzy and giggling like a school girl each and every time I hear those luscious lips say 'sex'. And please, lets not even start with the 'I feel very protective of you'. That line hooks me every time and I find myself looking for a pillow to bite!

Until next time,
JETT

You kind of have to get over the whole middle of the movie is in no way in the book and they had to adapt it to play better in the film thing... or at least I did...

But yes... this was greatness... and I love the guy thinking about his cat!

~Jamie said...

LOL at Lori commenting on the picture quality... of course we get better pics now that the movie is out!

Ginger I'm with you 110% on this one. That waitress was fugly.

Agree, agree, agree! Best scene in the movie. Rob - dazzle me! Sigh!
Especially because Rob isn't wearing the Kabuki makeup. Hate the red lipstick.
Just have to say "I luvs the League" because you make me laugh everyday!!

Gingersnaps said...

@Leo's Mom, Thanks for that bit of trivia. Guess waitress lady was the one in the really tall tree during the helicopter shots. I'm sure they could've grabbed a prettier fan among those who stood outside during the filming.

@Lori, the best quality shots are those that are released stills, meaning they were not screen grabs from the movie. (like today and yesterday) But yes, now that we have a LEGAL version of the movie, even our screen shots will look better now.

@beesue, Thank you!!! We love our readers!!!

@Spank Did you really just say you loved KS in this scene!

I did too! One of my favorite scenes. I actually only think people who read the books would get Bella's little sound when she realized that the waitress was flirting. I didn't go for the waitress though, I didn't get the 50's goth thing.

robin(me) said...

I'm so happy to hear that at least there is something out there that is now legal like the screen shot downloads b/c I tell ya ladies - the way Rob makes me feel is quite ILLEGAL.
Megan and I and a small gathering of our office are working diligently to "scope" out vancouver and NM filming locations. The thing is that the cast is being guarded like Fort Knox and it's quite difficult to get an honest answer. Hey but ya know it's my job to be persistant...snicker snicker...I also know that no one tells the truth in my world. There's always someone out there that can be bought/bribed. Just have to find it, penetrate and attack!
HMMM. Penetrate. OMG I have to lay down a moment. Can't breathe.
OH and as long as we don't physically do anything to Rob (ok ladies this is the law) we are probably safe from being arrested. However, I'm sure there's a judge out there that will overlook charges and be leniant...it is Rob for godsake! Meadow and Spank couldn't help it...it's the "sexy devils" fault. Ok, so I just told you how to plead your case a.head.of.time!
What else? are you guys sick of me yet? I'm sorry it's my job to talk alot. Blogging while working. Nice. Hey I've learned a lot from The League and I think the judge likes me now b/c of "robjection". I haven't lived that one down yet.

sakixry said...

@Robin(me): I believe that if the judge is a woman she will understand the reasons of attacking Rob and she will drop the charges. What can we innocent females do when such a hot thing is coming round??

robnutmeg said...

Ok so bff robin(me)...and all of you convinced me to join your blogging group. I have changed my name to rob(instead of twi)nutmeg. i wouldn't mind having a little of robnutmeg.
so let's see what's happening.
I just LOVE all your insightful comments. We have a lot of fun at work these days. Um. I think I can talk the JUDGE into coming with us to Vancouver once we find out where Rob is. (the little scamp!) Doesn't he believe in gps? Someone ought to plant one in his HOT POCKETS. Oh god. You guys CRACK me up. The thing is that YOUR lawyer *uh hem* is not the best representative to take with you. It's called: HOLD.HER.DOWN!
Ok so I'm no longer married but don't be sad. I'm pretty much over the pain and agony. Now it's called more freedom to watch Twilight and dream of Edward. It's a real good thing. Makes me MORE available for Rob. Divorce takes time so I have a jump on you guys! YES!
MMM. What did I think of the restaurant? I simply couldn't take my eys off of lucious/sexydevil/dream/hot-Edward/Rob! Oh and the singing in the background...are they trying to kill me?

Anonymous said...

@ Robnutmeg I agree. This group is the best. I envy you and your "freedom" for all things Twilight! I am actually "sneaking" and checking this page right now because if my hubby came in and saw me on here YET AGAIN today, I will probably end up fighting, ROFL!!!! Anyway...I don't want to get a divorce, but I neeeeeed Twilight...hahahaha!
I used to be just a reader, but I decided I had to get in on this posting stuff, lol. I did anonymous for a few days and decided to keep this name, so I hope y'all don't mind me getting in on the action.....ahem....action...yeah....lol

Agreed on the waitress! I think everyone watching that is left confused. All wrong and very purple. It was also called to my attention that she was bad at acting. Honestly, the waitress being flirty didn't prove a point about edward and how only saw bella over any other girl, just made it look like some sleazy girl was hitting on him and he was reacting normally. lol.

ok Leauge, please address this in the near future: on deleted scenes where james and victoria make-out: in mid-make out- i would like Laurent's face addressed asap.

Gingersnaps said...

@sasha liz, you better believe we are going to talk about the deleted scenes soon. :)

@robin(me), we'll never get sick of you!!! We need you on our side in case we get into any legal trouble when we pursue Rob.

@robnutmeg, Thanks for joining our crazy group! And thank you for the warning about robin(me). We'll keep an eye on her (and make sure she shares)!

Great site, ladies! I don't know if you have any guys commenting here with any sort of regularity, but if not, let me be the first!

I've stopped by a few times before, but haven't posted any comments - but when I was link-surfing and saw that you all had dedicated a post to the restaurant scene, I got WAY excited and HAD to drop a few lines, because that's my absolute favorite scene in the movie!

It's just so simple and beautiful - I actually put up a short blog entry a few months back specifically about that scene. Since that was before the DVD had been released, I had just been watching the scene on Youtube over and over, so it's wonderful to now have it to watch whenever!

@ Jordan - We are SO glad you commented! I know there are guys who dig the series/movie but I am so glad you came out of the woodwork to say hey and share your view. :)
