For the love of Bella!

We at The League realize that we are prone to having a laugh at Kristen Stewart's expense and think she's a total piss ant, but in the essence of fairness, we are determined to dedicate a post where we applaud her work in the film Twilight. We will attempt to separate Kristen Stewart the person from Kristen Stewart's portrayal of Bella in the Twilight Movie. Wish us luck.

I know that if I try hard enough I can find the Golden Onion within Kristen's incessant pouting, twitching and eye blinking and give credit where credit is due. Unfortunately, even though through most of the movie she did a GREAT job as Bella I choose to focus on the scenes where she blows because I actually think I resent her having the audacity to turn down Rob Pattinson. I think there's a compliment in there somewhere...

There you go again... you can't do it! Neither can I, it's so hard. WE will have to give each other the strength to do it. For the fans, for our professionalism, for our integrity, for our character, we have to be positive!! We have to be brave for one post!

This may require heavy doses of medication and bottles of wine for us all.

Oh, I think we can handle that.

You guys had me at wine!

Just like Spank is our resident Jacob-hater, I'm our resident Bella-lover. Oh wait... that didn't sound right at all. Sorry, too much wine. I loved KS as Bella in the movie. LOVED her. And thought she was cast perfectly. In fact, I liked her version of Bella better than Stephenie's version. *GASP* Yes, I just said that. Only because I like strong women, and Stephenie's version of human-Bella is very weak, always needing protection. I felt like KS played Bella as a little more strong, which I think matches Bella better. And I loved the blinking, jerking KS did and felt it was so Bella-esque. The only Bella part I didn't care for was the hospital scene, which I REALLY didn't like. It's KS and how she's acted AFTER the filming that has me annoyed at KS the person. But KS as Bella I liked. There I said it. I need that wine back now please.

**passes bottle**

Oh Ginger, you've got me all teary! Actually one of my favorite Bella moments is a teeny tiny one but I thought it was perfect and so real. When Bella and Charlie are in the kitchen and she just came home from school (greenhouse field trip) and was so utterly distracted by Edward that she couldn't even really speak. The way she responded to Charlie's questions and drank her water before emptying it quickly. And then the "hmm" before leaving the room was fantastic! I loved her in several other scenes too but let's not get too crazy with the Stewart Love Fest 09'.

OMG! Spider listen to you; you're drunk! But I actually agree: I enjoyed all of Kristen's scenes with Charlie. I felt she played off the father/daughter vibe between the characters brilliantly. ** tilts back head and empties bottle. **

Notice how I haven't actually said anything in this post? **sipping wine** I propose a toast to not saying anything if you have nothing good to say.

If we're really going to do an homage to Kristen Stewart right shouldn't we be hitting the bong instead of the bottle?

@Ginger I was JUST thinking today about how Bella seems so much more fragile in the book! I actually like her fragility in the book. It makes it more realistic how easy it would be for Edward, or any other person in the family for that matter, to hurt her.

@Spider Did you also notice that there is a 24-pack of (no, not beer) water bottles on the counter?

I have tried from the beginning to embrace KS as Bella, I have also defended her at times. This whole attitude thing has really upset me though, and now any time I watch her, all I can think is piss-ant!

Come on now...Even though she needs to 'filter' some of her comments, you have to give her credit that she did play Bella very well. I liked her as Bella and according to Stephanie's description of her in the book, you couldn't get much closer.

@ Ginger I agree with your comments.

I did like the scenes with Charlie sometimes better than Edward, she seemed to play off of Billy Burke better. However, I probably wasn't really paying attention to her acting when Rob was on the screen ;) (I guess I'll have to go see it again this weekend to make sure!).

I think she still showed some of the 'fragile' Bella that was in the book, just more subtly.

LOL @Spank "hitting the bong instead of the bottle".

You have to admit, she has moments that really capture the script perfectly: like when Edward keeps grilling her in the hallway and she does that double-take like "why are you so interested, Godlike creature?"

I have to mention this, tho; There is only ONE scene in the movie where's she's supposed to smile and be enthusiastic: when Charlie gives her the truck - and she can't seem to pull that scene off- something sounds so forced about her voice. Taylor is perfection in that scene: so real, so warm, so genuine. But she comes off as so forced.

You know, I do like her as Bella. Except the hospital scene. That was just bad!

@ninja I did notice the water bottles. I didn't the first showing but one of the other 5 I did, can't remember which one I noticed it at. lol

Hey, I was just looking at Japan pics, and she is beautiful when she smiles, why doesn't she smile all the time?

There I said something nice. Do I get extra points?

Val said...

@happyhoursue "why are you so interested, Godlike creature?" love that!

Erin said...

@Ninja I noticed the water bottles too, why they were there though, I'm confused

I also really didn't like the hospital scene...

@Valerie She is supposed to simile several times in New Moon...lets see if she actually does

She has beautiful skin. There, I said something positive, now pass the wine.

i liked kristen as bella, i did. i didn't even mind the stuttering and blinking she did.

i don't want her recast (even though we say we do on our blog- we don't really mean it- i also say i would leave my husband for rob- and that's not.. wait, no that's true.. sorry)

and i get that she's pissed at the twilight craziness. i would probably be too. but.. she's an actress. she's gotta get over it- be pissed in private and put on that shining face in public! you can do it kristen you can! oh and brush your hair

Erin, that picture is adorable. At first I thought I did the wrong link! Great!

LTR, what's kthanksbai? Is that a code? As cool as I really am (trust me, I'm very cool) I don't get most of the code words (old lady w/sick perverted mind - olwspm?) But you hit the nail on the head. We all dislike so much about her but much of what we say is because she's an easy target! She does need to suck it up when in public! Seriously!

@ Spider Monkey...

kthanksbai = okay, thanks, bye :)

Uhm....she got the sarcasm down? Not a very hard thing for a bitch to do.

Okay okay I know this is supposed to be the "good job Kristen" thread, but I can't find it in me to congratulate that little asshole.

I can comment today! (The other blogger comment thingy was messing up for me all freaking week.) I love Bella in the book-- I was just like her in HS minus the sparkling vampire boyfriend (not fair by the way.) I don't like K. and her recent antics, but I like her as Bella. I'm wondering if with a different director it might be better. I just read the book again (4th time) and they really did leave a lot of humor out of the movie, and Edward laughed and smiled MUCH more in the book too. I think New Moon will be much better. I noticed something too- do not throw anything at me-- she seemed more relaxed in the scene with Jacob at the prom as far as greeting him and talking with him. I'm willing to give her another chance.

If in fact Kstew helped choose Rob Pattinson for the role of Edward. Well lets just say I can forgive alot of what she does for that alone

Just saying....

Well, I have to disagree with most of you. I didn't like KS as Bella at all. Some of the scenes were okay...but most of them were just weird and awkward. It was the other actors in the scenes that made the movie amazing! I think everyone else was casted amazingly! I just can't stand KS, at all. I've tried to give her a chance, but I just can't stand her acting. Sorry! She's just not my idea of the perfect Bella..I like the book Bella better. Now...Rob Pattinson on the other hand, he's an amazing actor and the best Edward I could ever imagine! :)

@Rachel...I assure you, you aren't the only one that feels that way.

I completely agree with everything you said!
