Spider's Cringe Moments of Twilight

I love this movie, that's why I feel the right to have some minor issues with certain parts. We all have our cringe moments. My biggest moment of "cringe" is when Bella and Edward leave Charlie's house to escape James. Bella is driving the truck when SLAM, Edward is against the side of the driver window. It's just gay. I get why they did it, Ginger and I are not in agreement on this issue, but I hate this scene. It's so hokey to me.

It's meant to scare you since she knows James is after her. I just think what seems suave in the book (him sliding her over his lap to the other side so he can drive) doesn't play well on screen with clumsy humans. Doesn't bother me.

I agree, Spider, I didn't really like this scene. I actually didn't like the lead-in where Bella's fear almost comes across as her being pissed at Edward, either. (Like how I twisted that into a gripe about Bella's acting instead of Edward's? Yeah, I thought so.)

I take no issue with the scene, per se, but I will say this -- if I was called upon to slide over his lap, "clumsy human" wouldn't be what they'd think, and when the truck is a rockin' don't come a knockin'.

*snicker*

That cliche just showed your age...

I am way too tired to say all the things that were done wrong with this movie.

Spank always has to add a dirty comment doesn't she?

Okay... extended scenes.. I wish they had kept the meadow scene in it's entirety! It was so good! Well, anything that gives me more Edward is good. What was the "Midnight Sun" scene though? Catherine Harwick said she was including one in the dvd ... guess I have to read MS again.

Oh didn't really mind this one at all. My cringe one is his face in the biology lab, & the husband makes it worse by making fun of him there.

As soon as I saw the words "his lap" I was waiting for a melt down from you gals. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA You are so controlled today:)

I thought the scene was okay-- the problem is that in the book there is so much more, and I know they need to condense stuff for the movie, but I think in the book it's just better in every way.

I still say my least favorite part is Edward looking like he's going to vomit in the science lab. I love Rob but he just didn't have the "seething" anger that would say "I want to rip your neck out".

By the way, my hubs stopped by Target to surprise me with the DVD and they had run out. DANG...he was hoping to score some points:)

I had no problem with this scene. I thin there were many scenes in the movie that were done wrong, but this is just not one of them.

@CT Jenny: I think the Midnight Sun scene must have been either the Emmett scene when he says "she's not one of us" OR, and I don't know if everyone's seen this yet, but in the 3-disc dvd version, there's a Vampire Kiss Montage where at the end Edward's fantasy of attacking Bella gets played out, just as he thought it in Midnight Sun (sans the killing of the other classmates). This scene is totally hot. He even grabs her boob *giggles*

The first biology scene is almost unwatchable it's so cringe-tastic.

The second biology scene makes up for it though - eyes...hands...cuff bracelet....smile..**thud**.

For what it's worth...my cringe is the car scene when Bella touches Edwards hand...I don't know why but Rob's face just makes me uh "cringe". No real reason...just saying. AND who got the 3 disc? I went to 3 places and NO ONE had them. So I settled for the 2 disc. No MS. Time to take PE and have a private moment...And possibly a bottle of wine.
I think the scene that they should have left in was Esme and Carlisle. I adore Esme and she just gets so JIPPED in the movie. Any thoughts?
AND I agree with Brenda Jean, the LEAGUE is so controlled today...what's up with that? Are you ok? Just take a look at NEW MOON shirt unbuttoned Eddie and you'll be ok! Do.it.now! I did.

Hey I made it through w/o saying anything negative about kstewpid's acting or lack thereof. UGH.

I wouldn't know how I feel about it because I STILL DON'T HAVE MY MOTHEREFFIN DVD!!!!!!!!!!! Damn you United States Postal Service!!!!!!!!

Ok, so does the Amazon dvd have 3 discs? If not, I may need to go buy it.

I think the biggest cringe part, for me, was when he was trying to suck the venom out. He looks really funny. But I know it was probably hard to figure out what face to make.

Dang, you guys are giving us a hard time for not being dirty enough? LOL

@robin(me) The 3-disc version appears to be a Target exclusive. I already bought it from Amazon and Hot Topic but they were both the 2-disc versions. I just need to convince Mr. Ginger that I need to buy it a 3rd time so I can go to Target.

I actually love the blood sucking scene. I think his face shows he's nearly out of control, but the best part is the sound. Just listen to him grunt...It feeds my fan fic sound effects
imagination.

I am also too tired to get into just how many goofy moments are in the flik- not the least of which is the baseball cringeworthy "Thriller" posing and Rob's chipmunk face.

It's pathetic that I don't even care. I would watch Rob in anything.I literally sit through every scene just waiting for him to walk on. He could could put on a Barney suit..If I knew it was him my panties would still melt.

my cringe moment: edward in the cafeteria throwing down a nacho and talking to emmett, go find it. tell me if you cringe too.

i really don't mind the first bio scene or truck scene...

the 3 disc is worth it and not that expensive! do it! :)

This scene doesn't bother me as do sooo many others. Watched the movie with my son who is a film producter and editor - he has read the book - and he keep saying "there are so many better things they could have done"! He felt if you had not read the book -the audience would not connect at all with Edward and Bella and the struggle they are going through. Just hope New moon is better.

robin(me) said...

Ok, I'll admit it...I watched it again! And sadly came up with another cringe moment.
The kissing scene. NOT that. But the comment Edward makes before he whips away from Bella. Stop!!!! Like it's her fault...Like I didn't see her ripping his clothes off (like I would have done) And then she saids I'm sorry? Listen girl, he would have had to KILL me if that had been ME he was kissing. Just keeping it real.

Christy said...

Oh, I would watch Rob watch paint dry. I also thought there were tons of things they could have done better.

I have to agree, i would have gotten the "intencity" of it alittle more if they didn't do it three seconds later with Em. jumping on the back.

Gingersnaps said...

@sasha liz, I totally agree with you. That's definitely a cringe moment for me when he's dropping food in anger at the cafeteria. Just seems so un-Edward to me.

Oh, and Mr. Ginger just surprised me with the Target DVD, so now I have Amazon, Hot Topic and Target versions of Twilight. Can't wait to watch that 3rd disc on the Target version!!!

Uuuuhh... I have many many cringe moments in the movie...
1) The Vampires EATING in the cafeteria! Jasper is actually chewing something and in another scene, Rosalie too! Aren't they supposed to NOT eat anything?
2) The scene where beloved Edward saves Bella from the wanna-be-rapists when they drive away in the car and he tells her to tell him something so he can forget about the whole shit and she says "Put your seatbelt on"? What the f***? Couldn't they find something better than that?
3) The scene he sucks the venom out of her hand... I dont like the face he is making but I forgive him cause he's Rob...
4) The flashback when Jacob is saying about the Quileute legend where you can actually see Emmett... and Emmett certainly wasn't with the Cullens that time...
5)...
What? You need more?

I certainly wasn't satisfied when I saw the movie the first time (for many reasons... the script was too thin, Edward was only on screen and not beside me making out with me... you know, usual stuff...). When I read the book afterwards, I could see so many things that they didnt even point out in the movie.

I'm stopping now... I think I have irritated you enough...

Love Edward! Bah bah now! Be good!

@ sakiixry - you are never EVER irritating. Always entertaining!

Ginger,
OMG, u got the 3 disc too? Wanna share ur husband with me? My husband can barely stand my 2 disc, PE, Edward nightime t-shirt and Edward "shrine" at the foot of the bed. He said one more "Edward" thing and he's leaving....I'll miss him! Hey priorities are priorities! Right?
